(NASA, Information in Spanish). NASA IN SPANISH Best of the year 2002 in the category Science & Technology of the Yahoo! en español. (Added: 28-Jan-2003 Hits: 559) [Spider search][grade levels: all]
blue right-pointing arrow NASA Goddard Earth & Space Science Education Project (GESSEP) - An assortment of Earth systems science investigations which meet nation science, mathematics, and social studies standards. Many utilize remote sensing data and several specific investigations deal directly with Landsat data. Use the "Investigation Titles" link to view the investigations. blue right-pointing arrow Ozone and the Atmosphere - This web site discusses the chemical composition and evolution of Earth's atmosphere, focusing on the protective layer of ozone in the stratosphere. The destructive properties of tropospheric ozone are also presented. Diagrams and animation sequences are used to visually depict the delicate structure of the ozone molecule and the chemical reactions involved in its formation and destruction. Ozone destroying pollutants were first identified in 1973. Since that time there has been a considerable amount of controversy surrounding the subject of ozone depletion. More than 20 years of ozone-related scientific studies, international meetings, and global industrial agreements are summarized in the last section of this site. blue right-pointing arrow Secrets Hidden in Soil - Soil means different things to different people. Earth scientists see soil as mineral or organic material that is formed on Earth's surface by dynamic, complex processes. Engineers think of soil as material to build on and are concerned with moisture conditions and the ability of soil to become compacted and hold weight. Agriculturalists think of soil as the top 15-30 cm of Earth's surface to grow crops, while others think of soil as dirt which one plays in or gets "dirty" from. blue right-pointing arrow Soil Science Education - This web site provides students with a "hands-on" introduction to soil science, and its relation to the environment, society, agriculture and ourselves. (Added: 17-Jun-1999 Hits: 1113) [Spider search][grade levels: unspecified]
blue right-pointing arrow Texture By Feel (or How Do Those Soil Judgers Do It Anyway?) - One of the things that's most important about soil science is figuring out exactly what's in the soil you're studying. There are lots of laboratory experiments for figuring that out, but one of our favorites is the measurement that let's you go outside, find some soil, and test it in a fun and different way. If you've done any studying of the soil, someone has probably mentioned "Texture By Feel." This web page provides two methods for exploring "Texture By Feel."
